Bank Mellat from abroad — open Hamrah Bank Mellat with an Iran IP

Hamrah Bank Mellat and Mellat internet banking will not open from outside Iran, because the server rejects your IP before it ever sees your password. A real Iranian IP removes that barrier.

FAQ

Bank Mellat from abroad — common questions

Why will Hamrah Bank Mellat not connect from abroad?

Mellat’s servers check where the request came from before the sign-in page and refuse IP addresses outside Iran. That is why the error is vague and has nothing to do with whether your password is right. With an Iran IP the app connects normally.

Can I fund my brokerage account from abroad?

With an Iran IP, yes — both the bank gateway and the trading platform open. Note that the dynamic second password is still required, and if it is set to SMS you will need an Iranian SIM.

How do I get the dynamic password without an Iranian SIM?

If you have enabled Mellat’s in-app password generator, the dynamic password is produced on the phone itself and no SMS is involved. Turning that on before you leave Iran is the single most useful preparation. If you have not enabled it already, activation usually needs one confirmation SMS.

Is the browser or the app better?

Both work with an Iran IP. The app is usually more stable; the browser is easier for larger transfers and administrative tasks. If the sign-in page renders only partially in a browser, do one hard refresh.

Is it safe to use Bank Mellat over a VPN?

Yes. The bank’s own encryption is untouched and the VPN adds a layer on top of it. We do not log your connection destinations or the content of your traffic.
