Troubleshooting on Windows

SmartScreen: "Windows protected your PC"

The desktop build is unsigned during beta, so SmartScreen may warn on first run. Click More info → Run anyway. If you'd rather avoid the warning entirely, install the store-verified build from the Microsoft Store.

Firewall or antivirus blocks the connection

Allow Iran IP VPN through Windows Defender Firewall (it asks on first launch). Some third-party antivirus tools treat all VPNs cautiously — add the app to their allow-list.

A site still doesn't open

Disconnect and reconnect to get a fresh server, and make sure smart routing includes the site. Still stuck? Message support on Telegram — we usually reply fast.

Does it cover every app, or just the browser?

Every app. Iran IP VPN for Windows is a native client that creates a system-wide network adapter, not a browser extension — so a desktop banking client, a download manager or anything else that opens a connection uses the Iranian IP too, not only what you do in Edge or Chrome.

Smart routing sends only the traffic that needs an Iranian IP through the tunnel, so your other connections keep their normal speed and route.

Keeping it connected

• After sleep or hibernation. Windows tears down and rebuilds its network adapters on wake, and the tunnel does not always survive it. Disconnect and reconnect once.
• When you change network. Moving from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, or between Wi-Fi networks, is the same story — one reconnect settles it.
• Connect before you open the site. Iranian banking portals cache a failed state surprisingly often; connecting first avoids the whole class of problem.

Two less obvious causes

Your PC's clock

If the date and time are wrong by more than a few minutes, TLS handshakes fail — and Iranian banking sites then error in ways that look exactly like a VPN fault. Open Settings → Time & language → Date & time and turn on Set time automatically. This one is worth checking early because the symptom is so misleading.

A managed network

Work, university and hotel networks often run their own proxy or block the ports a VPN needs. If Windows connects everywhere except on one network, the network is the cause, not the app. Test with a phone hotspot to confirm it in under a minute.

When the site opens but still rejects you

At that point the IP problem is solved and what remains is the account — most often a one-time password sent by SMS to an Iranian number you no longer carry.
